Lensey Namioka 

Lensey Namioka was born as Lensey Chao in Beijing, China on June 14th, 1929. When she was nine, she moved to America with her father, a linguist, and her mother, a physician. She attended Radcliffe College and the University of California at Berkeley, where she studied mathematics. While she was in college, she met Isaac Namioka, a Japanese mathematics professor. They got married and they had two daughters, Aki and Michi.  

Nowadays, Lensey Namioka is 87 years old, and she lives in Seattle with her family. This author has lived and traveled all over the world.


Lensey Namioka is a prolific writer of books for young adults and children, and she has won many awards for her work. She is best known for the Zenta and Matsuzo Samurai series, inspired by her visit to Japan, her husband's native country. Namioka also writes books about young women and girls who have to face difficult situations, and about China and Chinese American families.

This book was published in 1997, it has 160 pages and the editorial house is Laurel Leaf.
